PROOF ANSWERS IS A SCAM!!!!
1. "God Bless You" was reported and removed.
Blessing the reader CANNOT BE against Yahoo guidelines. Next you will say saying hello is chatting. What utter rubbish! Do you realize how foolish this makes your "guidelines" look!
2. Offering the numbers for psychiatric services to disturbed persons is against guidelines: http://hiramunleashed.blogspot.com/2014/…
From YA: Your Appeal has been declined.
3. "What is the purpose of poetry?" is against Yahoo Guidelines!
In Other Words, TROLLS RULE THIS SITE: http://hiramsrants.blogspot.com/2013/12/…
From YA: No response to the appeal 100 days later.

Q: Are God and religion evil?

A: "No, the most evil thing God ever invented was the OPINION."  -Happy Hiram

This past week in all things Hiram:

Helikon Haven has had HIV information Week, with posts from the HIV Awareness Sonnet Contest{ Day 6Day 5,  Day 4, Day 3, Day 2, Day 1 }

You say Benwa-ing and I said Benoi-ing; Benwa, Benoi, Benoi, lets call the whole thing off!

and...

Peter (as the account Polish) showing off his anti-women stance (Three of the top five viewed posts in my rants section are about Peter. That and my rants section has twice the views of my other sections mean, more about Pete to come. Benwa, Benwa. Who knows? Learning about how to avoid being victimized by him online MIGHT become a cottage industry!)

Hiram's "Handy" Sonnet Guide

Here is how you do it. Find seven sets of rhymes based on your hands.

Two rhymes for pinks (or fingertips)
Thinks/Winks, Drinks/Stinks, Ships/Trips Flips/Dips

Two rhymes for rings (or ring-finger)
Sings/Swings Wings/Brings Linger/Anger Kings/Things

Two rhymes for middle (or center)
Little/Fiddle Mentor/Centaur Letter/Better Whittle/Riddle

Two rhymes for pointer (or index)
Banter/Ranter Next/Text Hexed/Vexed

Two rhymes for Thumbs
Numb/Dumb Some/Come Hum/Strum From/Sum

Since we are sitting down, two rhymes for knee (or knees)
We/See Be/Flee Trees/Breeze Sneeze/Wheeze

Lastly two rhymes for eye (or eyes)
Why/Lie Try/Die Surprise/Wise  Eyes/Thighs

Okay now we start each line with the words "Iamb" (EYE-amb) except we say something different that has two beats like Iamb, first hard and then soft.

We count this word on our pinky finger and each following two beats on the rest  of our fingers going "tip-gully-tip-gully" like so:

EYE -    amb       EYE -    amb    EYE -    amb    EYE -    amb     EYE     SHIPS

or for example

I      roam      the     docks   and     seek     you     on    the        SHIPS

and then:

A -      mid       salt-      y      mists    your     fra-    grance    LING-   ERS

If you have trouble fitting in the beats, often adding  "just" or "some" or taking out or adding "a", "the" or "and" which will straighten it out. Above Salty is backwards

A -      mid       the      salt-      y      mists    your   scent    LING-   ERS

The rhymes go:

One hand - Pinks
One hand – Mids
One hand thumbs
One hand - Rings
One hand – Index
One hand knees
One hand - Pinks
One hand – Mids
One hand thumbs
One hand - Rings
One hand – Index
One hand knees

13th line – Eyes Last line – Eyes

Follow this "rule of hand" and you will find you have made a sonnet! Lines can also go down up, just start "off" the pinky and finish "on" the thumb instead of beyond it.

Have fun!

Helikon Haven Poetry Blog

is now OPEN for BUSINESS!!!

The Helikon was the river in mythology where Orpheus the musician died. It is considered a metaphor for poetry because the river, refusing to be impure, dove into the ground so that his killers could not wash their hands. Poetry must be pure and unadulterated by greed or enmity. I hope Helikon Haven allows it to be so.

Hiram's Oscars

Oscar Smoshker
by Happy Hiram

We have waited for days
making sick canapes
through the channels a-lighting
seeking red carpet sightings
Who's gown will succeed
or become blogsmears feed?
We judge in, out or down
each celeb in the town...

Poor Seann William Scott
by the Oscars, forgot
Meryl Streep has been snubbed
(but at least made the club...)
Old George Clooney's a wreck
with Pitt neck and neck;
Dujardin takes the prize
with Uggie by his side.

till the wee hours of dawn
they will still party on...
To the Governor's ball
on Kimmel shall we call
Checking out who was
there at Vanity Fair.
By the end vacant stare
I've forgotten why I care.

Haven
by Happy Hiram

Whitney Singing with the choir
Poets reach what they aspire
clocks go back
no problems tack
there is no muck and mire.

Lenny Bruce comes for the ride
complains there's no underside
he can't mock
'cause peace ain't schlock
so it sucks being snide.

Orchids bloom, 'till the girls all swoon
hot chicks hang in every room
candles dancing
light romancing
love that tucks away the tomb.

Whiskey, water, wine and ale
"Drink up, boys! We soon set sail!"
Devastation
to limitations.
Just grab your ruck for the rails.

Fishing for the less venturous
no one's here to censure us
Grab a pipe,
I think I might!
(It makes me look more lecherous!!)

Peace at home for young and spry
Coffee, tea and apple pie
spitting needs
like melon seeds
who needs what or where or why?

In the midst I see it calling
snowy cherry blossoms falling
at the end of miseries wailing
nothing ending, sick or failing;
coming out of life's tunnel
birthing from a pastry funnel
to a life like a wedding cake
no uncertainty or mistake
a chance to harbor our souls and heal;
a pity heaven isn't real.

Welcome To Hiram Unleashed: Poetry and Rants

Happy Hiram Unleashed
The skies have changed, the road bends
the time comes to break out on our own.
We'll miss some enemies, and some friends
But life is a journey we must all go alone.

If I can bring a smile or laugh to your face
or make you pissed off (As only I know how!)
then joy and energy can alight on this place
and Hiram can be unleashed, unfettered, unbowed.
